Privacy Policy
Effective 9 September 2026
Monique's Pantry ("the Service") is a kitchen and pantry inventory app and website that lets a household share one list across devices. This policy explains what we collect, why, and what you can do about it. We keep it short because we collect little.
What we collect
- Account details. Your email address, a display name, and, if you sign in with Google, the account identifier and profile picture link Google provides. If you sign in with a password we store only a salted hash of it, never the password itself.
- Your pantry data. The items, quantities, places, categories, shopping lists and notes you enter. This is the whole point of the Service, and it is shared with the other members of any household you join.
- Household membership. Which households you belong to, your role in them, and invite codes you create or use.
- Device and session details. A device name your app sends (for example "Monique's phone"), sign-in times, and the IP address of requests in short-lived server logs used for security and troubleshooting.
We do not collect your contacts, location, photos, advertising identifiers or anything from other apps. We do not use analytics or advertising trackers.
How we use it
Only to run the Service: to sign you in, to sync your data between your devices and the people in your household, to keep the Service secure, and to answer you if you contact us. We do not sell or rent personal data, we do not show ads, and we do not share data with third parties except the providers below.
Google sign-in
If you choose "Continue with Google", Google tells us your email address, name, profile picture link and a unique account identifier. We request nothing else and receive no access to your Google Drive, Gmail, contacts or other Google data. Google's own privacy policy governs what Google does; ours governs what we do with what Google gives us.
Who can see your data
Members of a household see everything in that household. The person operating the Service can access the database for maintenance and support. Nobody else.
Where it lives and how long
Data is stored on a server in the United States operated for us by Amazon Web Services, protected by TLS in transit and by access controls at rest. Nightly backups are kept for 30 days and then deleted. Deleted items are kept as small "deleted" markers so every device learns about the deletion; they contain no item details.
Your choices
- Leave a household at any time from the Household page.
- Delete your account from the Me page in the app or website. This removes your account, sessions and any household in which you were the only member. Households you shared stay with the other members. Backups age out within 30 days.
- Sign out everywhere by changing your password, which revokes other devices.
- Ask us to export or erase your data by email.
Children
The Service is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
Changes
If this policy changes in a meaningful way we will update the date above and note it in the app.
